«Game of Thrones» — American fantasy TV show, based on the cycle of novels «A Song of Ice and Fire» by George R. R. Martin. Filmed by David Benioff and D. B. Wass for cable TV channel HBO. Filming is conducted in several countries, including the UK (Northern Ireland), Malta, Croatia, Iceland and Morocco. The premiere of the first season in the United States was April 17, 2011. Initially, the final season of the show was planned to be shown in the first half of 2019, but will probably be postponed until the summer of 2019 because of technical reasons.
«Game of Thrones» takes place in a fictional world, reminiscent of medieval Europe. There are many characters and several storylines are developed in the show at the same time. There are three main plot arches: the first one dedicated to the defense of several influential houses for the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms or for independence from it; the second one is a descendant of the ousted dynasty of rulers, an exile princess planning to regain the throne; the third - to the ancient brotherhood, protecting the state from threats from the north.
The show is characterized by the absence of strictly positive characters, many characters perform ambiguous actions and may die on the screen unexpectedly for the viewer. In the show there are fantastic creatures — dragons and undead.
The TV show received high reviews from the audience, became one of the most big-budget projects on modern American television.
